About me
The prompt: Tell us about yourself. I love that this question is meant to put people at ease in an interview, but it is quite literally the most nerve-racking question that candidates are asked. Where do I start? What do I share? How much do you want to know? In Indiana, they say "What's your story?" which I wasn't sure how to answer at first, but I like that this version seems more casual and allows for a more humanized and vulnerable answer. So what's my story? The highlights--I grew up in IL, went to Iowa State, started my dream job in cancer research where I quickly realized it was not my dream job, went to grad school in Counseling and Student Personnel, worked in higher ed/career development for 10 years, tried out training & development, and landed a job where I am now doing both--training & development under the higher ed umbrella.
I like to talk about difficult topics with an open mind and love when my brain seems to be on fire in the conversation because I'm equally learning and contributing to the conversation.
